Hey if youre talking this much trash now, imagine 11 deep in a 12 pack of Shiner bocks. We have had a couple of these unofficial Texas Hunting Forum Duck Hunts (uthfdh) and never have I had a bad time. You just need to tune that crossbred mutt of yours up before we go. And I am telling you right now, I dont care where the kennel is on the toon boat, my seat is far left. I can see the arguement already and it aint happening.

Do you need a boat for this hunt or is there plenty of room?

Watching for the date and January sounds good.

There will be plenty of room. There are 22 condos. I own one and it is full already. My boat is full already. But what will happen is groups can book other condos through the real estate guy. There are several people bringing boats. Brandon will have two boats. And others will be bringing boats. So those with boats and those without need to get friendly. It will work out best this way because everyone can make their own arrangements and it doesnt fall on one guy and one schedule for all to adhere to. All I have to do when the time comes is post the date and the telephone number. Once it is full it is full and I am out of the fracus.

Few questions

Surface drive mud boat work just fine down there?

Y'all willing to help out us East Tx boys and show us where to run in that area and whatnot, or is it an every man for himself type of hunt?

Any concern about bringing a duck dog and him cutting himself on oysters or anything like that?

Need a blind on the boat or can you tuck up against some reeds or something in a marsh stool?

Sorry if these are dumb questions, never hunted the coast like that

I ran mud rigs down there for years, you are good to go.

Y'all willing to help out us East Tx boys and show us where to run in that area and whatnot, or is it an every man for himself type of hunt?

Arrangements will be on you so far as booking and getting a with a group or bringing a group. So far as places to go ect. Aint no problem we got you covered.

Any concern about bringing a duck dog and him cutting himself on oysters or anything like that?

Very much a concern. Where I will be sending you, you won't be getting into oysters, unless we go to Bubba's seafood in Seadrift, Texas grin

Need a blind on the boat or can you tuck up against some reeds or something in a marsh stool?

No blind needed. I hunted for years by offloading and picking the youngest guy to go park the boat.

Sorry if these are dumb questions, never hunted the coast like that

Not dumb at all. These are all questions that need and should be asked. I am glad there is interest in the hunt. This should be a good turn out and a good time.

Losers with a capital L. I can say my boat filled up fast. Me, Hogman, Garrett and Dave and it was done. After I finish and get the chairs in I will see if it can be a 5 man for the day.

If you never hunted the coast then get ready for a redhead beat down. I took a guy last year on his first ever coastal trip. We hit the magic button so far as redheads. All afternoon we had group after group after group landing in the decoys. I am conservatively guestimating 3000 birds that landed 25 yards from us in the decoys. HE won't be seeing that for a long time. We just caught them on the day they all went to drink and loaf in fresh water. We were in the first bay lagoon on their way back to feed for the evening. I have 40 seasons down and I have only been witness to that kind of spectacle a few times in those years. My wife and I went to that same blind and she had to work to get a limit the next day.

I'm messing with you W...I'm not sure if I can do two coast trips in one season and I am planning on going to Port Isabel this year. A guy can only take so many stupid redheads in a season. I honestly could careless about killing another. They really end up pissing me off because there are millions of them and they are stupid...you only get to kill 2 and then you have to look at the dumb birds all day. wink

Never a dumb question, but take the advice serious. Espicially on the oyster part. When the scouting takes place be sure to check the bottom and make sure there no oysters. They can end a trip quick for dogs or humans. As far as the mud motor/boat, I see some there but not a lot. Depending on where you go out of sometimes you have to cross a lot of open water sometimes not. Cutting some mangroves and having buckets or a small bench or layouts work pretty good down there.

What are the planned dates of this excursion? I have a boat I can bring if the dates work.

We will nail it down later but we are targeting the last few weeks of season. Sometime in between the split and end season.

Man this sounds like a fun trip, I am going to keep my eye on this thread, I will be a lot further south than usual this year looking around some since I have a daughter going to Texas A&M in College Station this fall and she has made me promise to come down there and take her hunting a few times.
Not sure how that's going to work out yet but may have to keep this trip in mind.
Never really hunted around Aggieland before and not looking forward to it but maybe I can scout up some ducks for her to hunt once or twice.
