I have the opportunity to purchase this model new for $1K after taxes. Just looking for opinions if good deal or not. It is Max 5 camo but does not have the comfort tech stock or recoil reducer, no hard case and only 3 chokes vice 5. Any help would be appreciated.

If you are going to shoot 3.5" BB shells at geese, the comfort tech stock is well worth it. If only shooting 2 3/4 or 3" at ducks and you don't have shoulder problems, this gun will suit you fine and the $1K price is a good one. The gun you are looking at is basically the same thing as the Franchi Intensity. Franchi is owned by Benelli and the Intensity is a watered down version of the SB2, but without the comfort tech stock. Has the same bolt and enteria system. You can probably pickup the Intensity for less than $1k. If you don't want to shoot 3.5" shells, the Franchi Affinity is the same gun, but only shoots 2 3/4 or 3" shells and can be picked up for around $600.
My final thought is this: If you buy the loaded SB2 for $1700, you should be able to sell it for $1200 - $1500 in the next year very quickly. The basic model (or Classic) will be very tough to sell IMO. If you never plan on selling, no big deal.

Thanks for your opinion. I see a Franchi in my future.

I bought a Stoeger M3500 and absolutely love it. I believe the camo patterns run $750. I went with black and it was $600, if I remember correctly. Inertia system, 3.5", four chokes. Comes with recoil reducer and magazine plug. Stoeger is owned by Benelli also.
I'm not trying to throw too many options at you, but I am really pleased with my decision. The M3500 has had nothing but positive reviews, from what I've seen, and was a major improvement over the M3000 which had some issues.
I just turned it on . I was looking bird dogs in the butt this morning.

I've got the American edition SBE 2, essentially the same gun as you're lookin at and I am very pleased with it. I just put a limbsaver on mine and recoil using 3.5" shells is not an issue.
