For some reason, I haven't been able to download it! And I mean downloading it into the Sight. It downloads fine from the ATN site. But from microSD card into the Sight, nothing happens when I power up.

I was just able to download it.
Unfortunately I'm at work, and cannot try it out until I get home tonight.

Also, let's try to keep the subject of this thread about the firmware - not complaints and demands for money back. That's a subject for another thread. Thanks

I have installed it and in my case the easiest install of them all, no hang up or restarting involved. In the past I have had issues so a step in right direction, it seems more stable in all modes as they state in the release. Pictures good, video good (no sound). Low light amp still has the flicker, Medium & High do not, tested in dark garage. True night time performance will be tested tonight while stalking around the ranch. So far so good.

Thanks Did the Attorney General approve this message ? No. Just that the constant complaints mucking up the thread and obfuscating useful information made me stop coming here. It just doesn't hold my interest, and I have so many other things in life going on, that I have little time to sift through it to find the info I'm looking for. --- Good to hear Eyesofahunter. Let us know how it goes!

I finally got it installed; for some reason I had to download it and attempt to install it 3 times before it "took." Then installed without issues other than still having to remove the batteries after the firmware download. Everything I've seen is the same as Eyesofahunter, but it's all been day time and dark barn checking. The one issue that still haunts my 5X is that it refuses to stay "OFF" when I power it down using the "POWER" button. The only way I can power off is by removing the battery cap. Sure wish they'd fix that problem. I wouldn't think it would be too difficult. Or maybe it's just my unit! Does anyone else have the problem?

Also, let's try to keep the subject of this thread about the firmware - not complaints and demands for money back. That's a subject for another thread. Thanks Most beta testers get to test free equipment, and report their finding back. In this case we are paying, for that opportunity. Please don't tell us where we can post what we feel is important for potential customers to know about a product that doesn't work. Especially when the company involved apparently bans and deletes those messages from their FB page. I was simply reminding Sachal the ATN spokes person that he said an update was due any day. You will also notice that I posted a possible fix for the auto dimming issue, which I am sure has not been addressed by ATN. It has now been 3 weeks, not 3 days... A ploy that took another member past his 90 day return time limit...

The fix I found was to "lightly" press the power button for the 3 seconds then release it. If I press it "hard", then it automatically starts back up when released. Try it, you'll like it.

Has anyone checked zero after the 288 update? I'm headed to the lease this afternoon but based on my upgrade experiences, I'd have to test fire and validate zero. No time for this today before my hunt starts.

The sound is still not working? I installed it but haven't tried. It should be one of the top priorities, I'll send the scope back and get a refund.

I have also encountered this, and I have discovered this happens when you press and hold the button BEYOND the 3 second countdown. Since there's a brief delay between the end of the countdown, and the power ending, you have to let off of the power button during the countdown, but not have it pressed after the countdown disappears, or it'll start back up. Hope this helps.

Customcutter and MoShooter, I tried your suggestion of a lighter touch with the Power button and it worked! I guess it didn't like my rather ham-handed style of turning it off. That takes one more issue off my X-Sight plate that I'm happy to resolve.

mikei,
Glad it worked. I can't claim credit for it, I don't remember who posted it, it was in one of the earlier Xsight threads.

[quote=mikei][quote=Eyesofahunter]I have also encountered this, and I have discovered this happens when you press and hold the button BEYOND the 3 second countdown. Since there's a brief delay between the end of the countdown, and the power ending, you have to let off of the power button during the countdown, but not have it pressed after the countdown disappears, or it'll start back up. Ever played Mario Kart with the kids switching off the x-sight is a bit like the 321 start in MK, press the button at the right time and you get a super start, let go of the the x-sight butoon just a micro pause after the 1 sec shows and off she goes. Programmers don't you just love em replaying their childhood years. Anyway 288 downloaded fine, loaded on x-sight first time no probs. Have been using medium in nv for sometime and it works well in 288. No idea about sound not too bothered prefer well chosen music ala the roadkill's vids. Made a little vid of fox cub at 50yds at 10x to test may post it tomorrow. Noticed two things on my 5-18 since loading 288, The zoom goes up now by tenths all the way from 5 to 20, ie 6.1, 6.2, 6.3 all the way up to 20, rather than just 5, 7.5, 10, 12.5 etc. Not sure what that is all about. When i press to record video at 10x with the reitcule centred my reticule jumps to its proper 5x position on screen and then when I stop recording it goes back to the middle, video appears when recording to stay at 10x. Again no idea why or what for. May show up on video if I post it. Actuslly getting used to using the scope now, not that bad really, just all the hype killed it when it didn't deliver on the basics. If the sound is fixed and the nv turns out to be better in 288 then I will be hapier than I was a couple of months back. Not to fussed about the compass etcI can live without it for now if it works as a day/night scope.

How is the audio quality for you guys? My volume seemed low but maybe I wasn't talking loud enough.
Sachal: any chance we could get a list of enhancements in this version?
Thank you!
