What are Mosin Nagants, model 91/30, in good condition going for these days? I saw some at a local gun shop and they are asking $250. I don't follow the trends but it seems a little high...I recall seeing prices around $180 online but those sources are currently sold out. Do they sell those at the Houston Gun Show? I know that they made over 30 million but the surplus resources have to dry up eventually.

$250 seems a little steep if it's not some kind of rare model. Look around a bit and you can find them in the $150-$200 range.
The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Just found an online source that has them in "excellent" condition for $180. My local FFL store would only charge $15 for the transfer. I might go that route. Just not totally sure about buying sight unseen.

Thanks for the advice. I ordered a Mosin last night for $179 but got an email this morning saying that there was an error with the listing and they are sold out. Just my luck.

It's funny how three years ago bought mine from Buds Gun Shop for $100 plus $10 transfer. Prices and demand keep going up. The sucker does kick like a mule, steel butt plate. Bought a limb saver not so bad know. Put scope on and had the bolt fix for the clearance of the scope.

I paid $89 for one from Military Gun Supply in Forth Worth a couple years ago. I don't see any listed on their website now though.

About $180 these days. Classic Firearms is the best place to get them.
They are ugly rifles but my M-38 carbine and my M-91/30 PU sniper shoot the lights out. PLUS, the ammo is dirt cheap and accurate in them!
Also, they don't kick bad if you use the sling correctly.

I ended up getting one locally for about the same price as I would have paid online, plus shipping and FFL transfer. Already broke it down and cleaned the hell out of it. The one I picked out has a good bore and decent trigger. Ready to hit the range!!! If it shoots well then I'll get some soft points and use it on my next hog hunting trip.

If its a Russian made one, they love the 147-150 grain bullets. Mine like PPU 150 gr. softpoints.

Thanks. I'll be sure to pick some of those up. I think this will fill the gap between my AR-15 and my scoped 308; where I dont need to shoot far but still want big knockdown power.

It will certainly make a great pig gun. Reliable and utterly rugged.

Also, at 100 meters they shoot 12-16" high. Their battle sights are zeroed for 300 meters. Might want to get a higher front sight post to fix.

I had to put a scope on mine old eyes, bi focal glasses suck at seeing near in between and far. Scopes are nice.
