Does anyone know of any. I'm working on training my own dog, and wouldn't mind meeting some other people for tips and pointers. I have a German short haired pointer if that helps. Any help is always appreciated

You could contact someone with NSTRA. They had a training pasture at Anna. They no longer run trials there but they might still train there.

The dfw area has a lot of akc pointing dog clubs. A quick google search will provide with all the info as well as the AKC website will tell you all the clubs in the area. They are usually very welcoming to new comers and most clubs, at least the ones in various states I have been a member of, have "training" days. Even if you are not interested in competing in any akc events it is a good place to meet fellow bird dog enthusiasts and possibly form some friendships, training tips and support the local breed club of your choice. Just a thought.

Go to NSTRA.org go to the regions page and find the Lone Star Region. President's contact info for Dale Heaton is right there. I am sure he would take the time to get with you and help you work your dogs. If not him then I would be glad to as well. My contact info can be found in my website. Reference the link in my signature....
