Anyone have any experience with this place. I recently moved to Austin and I'm looking for a good range.

I shot Texas Multi Gun there a couple years ago. It's a nice range.

Best of the West is a fantastic range. They have rifle out to 1000 yards, Pistol at 7 and 15 yards, skeet and bays. The staff is friendly and do not mess with you. I highly recommend Best of the West!!!

If you're looking for a good range, look no further. BOTW is great (technically it's in Liberty Hill... just to be clear) Doesn't generate nearly the same level of riff raff as a few of the other ranges nearby. I can't figure out if it's the slightly higher fee to shoot (which is still darn reasonable) or if it's the intimidation of the fact that it's a 1000 yard range. Regardless, there seems to be a lot less drama and safety issues out there. If you're not on the north end of town, it can be a haul but it's worth the drive.

I used to shoot there often, good range, nice folks. I used to shoot more at Austin gun club, which ironically is just south of Lampasas. The reason was it was closer for me and I was good friends with the RO. It requires a membership, but has a true "Texas Mile" range, and is much less crowded. What side of town are you on?

I'm pretty close to downtown so north or south is not really a factor for me

Also look at the Austin Rifle Club, which is a private range out 290, east of Manor. It only has 100 and 200 yard rifle ranges, but is a nicer range, has far more shooting positions, and is less expensive. Pay an annual membership and your done. Going through the membership application is a bit of a hassle and takes some effort including a safe weapons handling check, but it keeps out the chuckleheads that just bought an AR and have no idea of what they are doing. It is relatively quiet most days and a nice place to practice. There are some national level competition shooters that practice there.

I need to check that place out. Unfortunately, I am on the south side of town. So I figure if I'm going all the way up there to shoot I might as well just pack an overnight bag and some beer and go to the lease which takes another 30 minutes. Then it's free to shoot, and one of those little piggies might come out and turn sideways for me.
