How well does the feed flow out to the ends of each port so the deer can eat?

Looks like tubes at the bottom too long to get good flow for deer to reach.

I did a Timed feeder real close to that and I used long sweeps on the 90...I am going to eliminate the sweeps and just put a pan underneath the straight pipe coming down...Looks good

The question becomes how much weight will that plastic pipe hold? Keep us posted after you fill it up.

Stainless wire from each leg to the PVC with some turn buckles will sturdy her up nicely. I have roughly the same set-up on an 85 gallon barrel and the wire/turnbuckle combo works great with my long 53" PVC tube.

Will the pipe really not hold up? I never considered that.

Will the pipe really not hold up? I never considered that. It'll be fine sir. Like I said mine is 53" in length with only 4 self tapers holding it to the drum. Adjust the turnbuckles and make sure the wire/rope/straps are slightly upward and you'd be surprised how rigid it'll be.

So I have a problem with the feed tubes. I cut them to 5" out of the T. I had cut a chunk of wood to keep the protein from falling out that I screwed in the ends. Turns out it's too big so the deer have a hard time eating it. What DIY way can I make that can keep the feed in that would be thinner and not fall apart. I tried to cut the wood smaller and it broke. Could I use a few half pieces of pic pipe? What have other people used?

Looks good man. Should last a day or two depending on it's location I figure it will last about 3 weeks on our place. We will see. Our place is about 240 acres and will soon have 9 protein feeders on it. Low fence.

been making those types of feeders for years but we use 55gal drums and HD eyebolts and hang them...that helps with coons. As far as keeping the feed from leaking out and/or not creeping to the end of the tube.....trial and error on the length. They will clog from time to time but the birds help keep them cleaned out. I've made 2 different types....one with straight tubes to the feed ports.... and the latest with some fittings with a slight upturn...they feed much better but are more prone to clogging....again...mix corn with your protein and the birds really help keep them clean. Also...if you go with the upturned ports, drill some holes to allow water to drain.

Thanks. I ended up stacking 4 scrap pieces of pvc in the end to make a lip. It's about 1/2" thick. I think that should work and hold up to the elements. When I set them up next week I'll post pics.

I set it up this morning. I set up another one nearby also. I ended up getting about 120lbs of protein in each.

Here's the idea I went with. The flap can be adjusted to your liking.

The feeder has been feeding fine and isn't empty yet. Deer are eating out of it but we don't have many deer. It's drying up now so they might start hitting it harder.
I did a test on drilling holes in the spouts to stop molding and it works great. One had holes and one didn't. The one without holes molded and clogged and the other was good. I'll be drilling holes in all of our protein feeder spouts now. Hope it works for all of them.
