I know dove season typically opens on 9/1. I think Labor Day always falls on the first Monday in September so that will be 9/7 this year. So it looks like dove season will open on Tuesday 9/1. Doesn't look like I will have much company for the opener this year. My mojo is going to be pretty popular on opening day.


Proposed Dove Seasons

The department proposes to adjust the season dates to allow for calendar shift with respect to opening day in all three dove zones, including the Special White-winged Dove Area (SWWDA) regular season; however, in the North and Central zones, the season will have five more days in the first segment and close on a weekend (compared to last year). The extra days would be removed from the end of the second segment. In the South Zone and SWWDA, the season is identical to last year except for calendar shift. The bag and possession are the maximum currently allowed under the federal frameworks and are not proposed for change. The number of zones and zone boundaries cannot be altered at this time.

North Zone: September 1 — October 25, 2015 and December 18, 2015 — January 1, 2016.

Central Zone: September 1 — October 25, 2015 and December 18, 2015 — January 1, 2016.

South Zone: September 18 — October 21, 2015 and December 18, 2015 — January 22, 2016.

Special White-Winged Dove Area: September 5, 6, 12, and 13, 2015; September 18 — October 21, 2015 and December 18, 2015 — January 18, 2016.

It always opens on September 1st, at least for as long as I can remember. About every four or five years it falls on Labor day weekend. I think its kind of nice to have opening day during the week. Its almost like getting two opening days. You have September 1 then you have the first Saturday!

Lease prices vary depending on fields, but a majority of them are $300 for a season lease. That is both splits.
