Can anyone give me some ideas on what they think for age on this deer, this is a hill country deer so the bodys dont get real big, I just got the property in Feb. so I dont have much background on him. I dont think I saved any of the daylight pics of him unfortunately.

Would say 3 1/2 maybe 4 1/2 depending on qualities of other deer around its hard to say with hill country deer. Do you feed protein?

Could be the deer he was speaking of, but you know the bs comin out some folks mouths these days. Also alot of people dont know how to age deer and/or dont know how to tell one from another. Either way keep feeding protein maybe a food plot or two and it looks like your on the right track

Im no expert either but have watched deer alot of my life

I would call him a 3 yr old from those pics. Could possibly be a yr old though judging by the width in his brisket/shoulder area for this time of the year. Bucks are not as fat now as they will be in late August also. He will show his age much better then.

My guess is a 2 year old. He does not have the bulk or beginnings of a "Roman Nose" seen on older bucks.

The roman nose is cause by the nose breaking and healing. Some deer will never have one and some will have it early. We had a buck that we shot at 4.5 YO he had a roman nose from 2.5 on.

Exact Aging deer in early velvet is a disaster waiting to happen unless you have lots of historical data on that deer already.

I would put him at to well above 3

Ive been smoking the coons with .308 winchester silver ballistic tips but that was getting a little pricey since everytime i shot 1 its like a hydra 2 more appear so I now put a EO tech on my .223 to get some more use out of it.
