 DeLorme inReach SE Satellite Communicator?

We just did our first recon on our new lease in west Texas. Cell service is virtually non-existent. Got the OnStar phone to ring one number, then wouldn't on a second number, sitting in the exact same spot. We're having a land line put in in our cabin at the ranch headquarters for checking in with the wives at night, but I was wondering if anyone had used this DeLorme texting satellite device and how they liked it. They're on sale at BassPro for 250.00, plus a minute/use plan that I'm also interested in getting anyone's opinion and guidance on. Seems like it could double as an emergency communication device in addition to replacing radios, that may or may not work, depending on the terrain.
It'd be nice to buy a true sat phone, but expenses are high and frequent enough already, trying to get a new place up and running.

I bought one last winter. I went to Mexico in January and used it down there for 7 days with great luck. There was a couple times I had to reboot it for it work but for the most part it worked.

Sorry I can't give a personal review on the Delorme InReach but I have used the "Spot" and had nothing but problems with no signal. I do plan on buying the InReach in a couple months to get ready for this season, so I too will appreciate any reviews.

I linked mine to my iphone to send texts and that worked good.

cyberpyrot, I have a wilson booster both in my house and vehicle. They work good and worth the money if you have mediocre cell service. If you have no bars at all its not magic.
