I've ordered 13 guns from them and never had any issues. I read the policy and look them over before I sign.

I'm pretty sure somewhere in their terms and conditions it says something about inspecting gun before taking delivery, once the paperwork is done I don't think they can take it back because it is no longer in their name. However they should refund you the difference in the two rifles.
Doesn't make it right but legally they are covered. Always make sure you inspect online gun purchases before taking possession just like going to academy and buying a gun or ammo no returns. From their website. VERY IMPORTANT - FIREARM RETURNS !! Please take your time to inspect all firearms thoroughly BEFORE proceeding with the transfer. Once a new firearm is transferred to you it is considered used, even if unfired. Consequently, we cannot provide a full refund for new firearms once they have been transferred into your possession. Also, we DO NOT reimburse FFL transfer fees on returned items. We do understand that some manufacturer defects may not be identifiable upon initial inspection. However, upon discovering a defect AFTER the transfer, the firearm MUST be returned directly to the manufacturer for replacement or repair(in accordance with manufacturers warranty policy). By sending a defective firearm directly to the manufacturer, you can avoid the unnecessary transfer fees of returning the firearm to us through your local FFL dealer. If we do receive a defective firearm that has already been transferred, we will simply forward the firearm to the manufacturer on your behalf. Manufacturer repaired firearms can be returned directly to the customer without additional FFL transfer or associated fees. However, if the manufacturer chooses to replace the firearm, the replacement firearm must transfer through your local FFL dealer to document the replacement firearm serial number. BGS terms are pretty clear but there is fail on both seller's and buyer's part. The transferring FFL has no responsibility whatsoever...he is only there to ensure the 4473 and back ground check are completed.
I am still looking for the perfect apron, one with reinforced knee areas would be perfect.

As mentioned several times in other posts, when you leave the shop with the gun it becomes a used gun that belongs to you as noted on the 4473, whether your state requires registration or not is a moot point.
What Bud's should do is make you whole, either by sending you the correct stock at no charge, or by having you send them the gun back prepaid on their dime as a trade for the correct model you wanted.
I'd like to hear their side of why they won't work with you being it was their mistake initially.

Lesson learned, just get a different stock. Sure you can try and talk to them to see if they will go above and beyond, but if they choose not to I don't think they deserve to be put on blast all over social media.

From now on, when we all order out next gun online, PLEASE, when we get to our FFL for the transfer PLEASE, examine your gun NOW!!! VERY CLOSLEY. after you sign the forms its yours. My FFL guy who most of you know, he builds the best suppressors when he's not flying jets. I ordered a Ruger Blackhawk from a dealer, when we took it out to get SN, he noticed a small spot of rust, he suggested I let him send it back. I did and contacted the dealer and he quickly had another one heading to me. NOW, all this being said, I would really expect a dealer as big and well known as Buds, they would work with you somehow, even if its just a gift card or store credit. Something since, it was their shipping's fault in the first place. GREAT lesson for all of us.

I'm not sure if one post on one hunting forum constitutes as “put on blast all over social media”. Plus I told the whole story and admitted both party’s (buds and myself) made mistakes in this transaction. I have already located another stock and am no longer trying to get Buds to compensate me in any way. This post was just an informative post to educate everyone on the importance of making 110% sure you get exactly what you want before signing the dotted line. With that being said… Yes, I was still pretty disappointed to find out such a large and well known company was unwilling to work with me on making my purchasing experience with them more pleasant.

My first online firearm purchase was from Bud's in December of 2010. Exact thing happened to me with a Winchester SX3. Bud's webste did not state that the shotgun was a compact either and I did not notice the mistake until after I got home. Just like you I admitted my error but Bud's would not own up to theirs and refused to do anything other than take the shotgun back with a 40% restocking fee and I pay for the shipping. They did fix the error on the website most riki tik though. Managed to to sell the shotgun without a loss.
Since then I have bought a number of guns from Bud's but only if they are the only place I can get what I want or if their price is substantially lower than anyone else's. I've found Kentucky Gun Company's rates to be close to Bud's and usually buy from them.
Don’t roll those bloodshot eyes at me.

That's really crappy of Buds. That's no way to do business in my opinion.

I bought a a 50 cal barrel on gun broker from Bud's guns. They didn't even have the barrel in stock. They sold me a rifle way below any prices I could find anywhere else. Just my experance with them. Dallas
Just one more gun, well maybe two?

They have good prices. Ordered a tikka for a good price but took like a month to ship despite being "in stock" when ordered.
