It's interesting enough, but two things raise my eyebrows. THE PRICE! and then the ammo. Can the special primers be purchased aftermarket and would this be re-loadable. It is a glimpse into the future.

I remember the Etronix very well. They didn't go over well at all either!

We have/had an etronix in 243 win. Might still be in the old mans safe, but i remember thinking it was pretty cool. I know he took it to a gunstore to swap and they wouldnt give him much for it. They said it would take forver to sell. You can still get e-primers from midway, pretty sure. a total flop though. That was like 12 years ago last time i saw that rifle.

An idea far ahead of its time. The rifle will NEVER be worth the kind of money they're asking for it though.

I've got a friend that has a Remington .243 Etronix and said he hasn't been able to find ammo for a couple of years. It occasionally shows up on Gunbroker but it's outrageously expensive.

Also, I noticed that the gun has been relisted 3 or 4 times. I guess there aren't enough suckers out there.

This might be the future of arms but I think other mechanisms will trump it. Kind of like a laser disc vs. DVD. Plus, an old fashioned firing mechanism doesn't have to worry about an EMP blast! lol

Guns that depend on any type of electricity or LED will never be as reliable as mechanical. Especially in harsh conditions like war and weather when hunting. Some things don't have to change just for the sake of changing them. They can stand the test of time and still be the most reliable and efficient. The 1911 is a good example.

Nothing electrical is as reliable as mechanical. But everything is still moving to electronics. It's faster, lighter, less prone to breakdown due to wear, and more compact.
