Well, these are on serious sale at Natchez, so I picked one up as a flier. I've got a .378 Weatherby that came with a throw away scope and I needed something functional that wouldn't break the piggy bank and that provided a 1x on the low end and more than 4x on the high end.

Maybe I just had low expectations, but the glass really does seem pretty decent. More importantly, the power adjustment ring has the high ridge synchronized with three o'clock so that it aligns almost exactly with the scope rings, keeping out of the way of the high bolt lift of older Mauser actions.

I'll update this with a range report next weekend, weather permitting, but so far I'm reasonably impressed.

I can't speak on your particular scope or whether it will withstand the recoil or for how long, but I have an old Weaver 1x4.5 made back when they were in El Paso and that power range is great for shooting between 5 & 125 yds. Be interested in seeing how it holds up to the recoil. I have thought about moving mine over to 45/70 because my eyes are getting old.

I have one of those old weavers setting on the shelf, always wondered how they would hold up.

The scope, mounted with the caps off.

Bolt clearance and the power adjustment ring.

Not bad for a .378 Weatherby from the bench. That's a 270 grain Hornady @ about 2900 fps. This is about as well as I can shoot @ 100 with a 5 or 6x scope.

That'll do.

Difficult to shoot small at 5X.

Great group!

I'm not a recoil wimp, but I don't want no part of a .378 Wby.
