Post on Facebook saying western black rhinos are extinct. Now I know last month Cody that purchased the black rhino conservation hunt just did his hunt last month and got a old bull. And was saying there were still a good heard of black rhinos... Can someone please clear this topic up cause there's a lot of non hunters that believe everything they read off the internet.

There are several subspecies of Black Rhino's. The Western subspecies is now listed as extinct. Hunting such as what Mr. Knowlton did can absolutely benefit the species as a whole. I gave up "e-battling" idiots over hunting sensitive species a while back. They cant see the forest for the tree's.

From what I've read the western black rhino was a subspecies that was mostly in Cameroon. While it's extinct there are still other subspecies. Kind of like merriam's elk being extinct but there are still plenty of Rocky Mountain elk
