Does anyone have any opinions on the .410 derringers from Bond Arms. I am looking at purchasing a .410 handgun, but am not crazy about the large size of the Taurus Judge or Smith. Not sure I would like the Bond either??? Would like to hear your opinions of shooting these little guns. Range, killing power, kick-back, ect. Thanks.

A .357 revolver will do everything one of those will, and do most things better.

I heard the recoil is real. But its not like youre going to be at the range with it.

They would sell about of billion if they were price a bit cheaper.

The 45 colt is fun to shoot but the 410 is a handful. It's like going from 45 colt to 454 casull. They seem like great quality but really have no practical function.

I have shot the bond arms derringer in 410 and the recoil is definitely felt. It's not something I would want to practice with much.

Just curious, how did the gun feel in your hand/grip? With such a short barrel, would it even kill a critter at 10 yards?

You could hit something at 10 yards but it does have a very heavy trigger and does jump in your hand when fired.

I have a Bond Snake Slayer. It does have a good amount of recoil when shooting .410, but the grip is decent sized so it's manageable. They are very solid and well made guns.

I consider myself a decent pistol shot, but it takes some practice to shoot them very accurately. It would be a lot easier to shoot the Judge or Governor more accurately, but of course they are much bigger guns.

Admittedly I don't use it much other than when I'm doing things around the property where I might encounter a snake. What are you looking for in the gun? If it's for EDC or out in the woods where you're not just worried about snakes, I think there are better options.

I have one and my opinion depends on the question. So my run down would go like this:

Pro's - Well made, fit and finish.
Works as advertised, simple gun, not much to go wrong.
I don't find the recoil hard to handle but it wouldn't be a gun I would shoot all day.

Con's - It's loud!!
It's not accurate. Function of short barrel.
With .410's, spread is immediate so to kill a snake may take several shots even from only a 3' distance. Boot, shovel or stick would be more efficient for snakes.

Bottom line, for what i thought I wanted it for (snakes)I wouldn't buy another if I no longer had the one I've got. It was an impulse buy and not well thought through when I purchased it.

Good deal, Thanks for the responses. This is the answers I was kinda' expecting & think I'll go with the Judge. I am looking for something to just carry around the ranch for the occasional snake or just ta' pop a few soda (beer) cans. If the Bond was a bit cheaper, it would be fun to have. But since both guns are around that 500 - 550 $$ mark, you have to go with the Judge.

Now just which model??

Got one as a retirement gift. Will try it soon, but fear it will hurt my bad hands. Neat to have it in either case.

I owned one and got rid of it pretty quickly. It is heavy, not easy to [censored] single handedly, and it is not accurate. The extremely short barrel means that shot spreads extremely fast. Beyond just a few feet you won't hit anything with a shot shell. For arms length, in your face type shooting it would be effective but anything beyond that I would not recommend one. An air weight 38 or .357 with shot shells will do anything a snake slayer will do and more with less weight.

One of our lease member's has one and swear's by it. He's killed numerous cottonmouth's, albeit at close range. To him it's kinda like the American Express card. He won't leave home without it.
