I'm posting this here 'cause it would just deteriorate to an argument about religion in the OT.

Have any of you all had any dealings with Christian organizations that supposedly represent getting underprivileged youth into the outdoors, hunting and fishing?

Seems like you used to see stickers on pickup windows quite often, but not so much anymore.

I went to one presentation at our former church with friends once and I just got a strange vibe from the guy giving the talk, like maybe they're really just trying to gain access to places and using the kids as an excuse. Can't really explain it, but something was off. And it was one of the big ones you used to see stickers for.

Anyone had any dealings with this type of thing? Good, bad, or indifferent?

Might check out Father's in the Field.

Rifles are similar to boats and young women...there's no end to how much money you can pour into them without making them any more useful.

Our church men's group used to take kids from a local kids home 2 times a year fishing. It was too big of a hassle keep doing. Not for us we were happy to do it provided everything and even picked the kids up and dropped them off fed them and had drinks and snacks etc. The people from the kids home said it was too much of a hassle and wouldn't let us do it anymore. From what we know the kids all had fun, and I know several of the people from the church enjoyed it as well.

Look at Christian Outdoor Alliance. Quality organization.

I've not heard of such an organization, but it sounds interesting. If anyone knows of such a group that they can vouch for, I'd be interested to learn more.

I had one uneasy feeling situation too. I was on a guided hunt and the guide told me he had a christian group call to bring 10 youth hunters. They made a deal for a doe/spike hunt for $3,000 total for the 10 youth. I offered to my guide I would pay for a couple of youth hunters ($600). Later the guide called the organization and they told him for me to send $1,000 to ****** group for each hunter I wanted to sponsor. $600.00 actual cost became a $2,000.00 donation. Come to find out some of the adult hunters would take some larger bucks while they were there. Smelled bad in my opinion.
There are a lot of great organizations just check them out.

Yep, that's pretty low. Some guys get so crazy about hunting that ethics go out the window. I'm sure some of those deserving kids think "What the hell??"

Majesty Outdoors is one, but it's a little different than an organization taking a bunch of kids hunting.

Majesty Outdoors

Bill is the host, and a hell of a good dude that does some amazing work with his show and sponsors.
