For your self defense ammo, which would you go with? Barnes TAC-XPD or Hornady Critical Duty?
Mine is 45 but I'm asking far all the basic calibers. 32, 380, 357, 9mm, 40, 44, etc
Man if I knew what Oxner knows I could throw away what I know

Speer gold dot
Then Hornady Agreed Only caliber I differ from that is 380, where I use Remington Golden Sabre 102 grain.

I have gold dot for the 45 and critical duty for the other calibers.
It is far more important to be able to hit the target than it is to haggle over who makes a weapon or who pulls a trigger.

The Hornady Critical Defense line of ammo is the best on the market, IMO. The technology behind filling the HP up and how it performs is top notch. It's what I use in all my 40's, except 10mm Auto, which is a Hornady 180 XTP or Nosler 150 JHP. The Speer Gold Dot is a very good option, also.

I really didn't think Speer would jump ahead like that.

Speer is regarded as best, only among typical hollow points. But there are big issues with typical HPs that the newer style HPs, like the Hornady Critical Defense don't suffer from. The biggest is clogging of the hollow cavity via foreign matter like heavy clothing, drywall, etc. This causes the HP to not expand and essentially becomes a standard FMJ ball round. I use typical HPs when out in the woods. For 2-legged, urban critter defense, it's Hornady critical defense.
