The technology behind filling the HP up and how it performs is top notch. It's what I use in all my 40's, except 10mm Auto, which is a Hornady 180 XTP or Nosler 150 JHP. But there are big issues with typical HPs that the newer style HPs, like the Hornady Critical Defense don't suffer from. The biggest is clogging of the hollow cavity via foreign matter like heavy clothing, drywall, etc. This causes the HP to not expand and essentially becomes a standard FMJ ball round. I use typical HPs when out in the woods. For 2-legged, urban critter defense, it's Hornady critical defense. Last edited by Precision_Shooter; 06/01/15 05:43 PM.
