Just made the long drive back to the swamp after my annual late May early June Axis hunt at the Ox ranch. This was my fifth hunt there and the ranch is greener than I've ever seen it. All the extra vegitation made for a challenging hunt to say the least. My buddy and I hunted for 3 days and saw a lot of bucks but they were always just a short step away from disappearing into the very thick brush. I've got a poor quality video of the shot I made on my buck but I can't seem to get it loaded on photo bucket. I'll post some shots from the hunt of some of the bucks and other wildlife from the ranch. One photo is of water pouring out of the mouth of one of the smaller caves on the ranch. The last evening buck I killed has a lot of mass and I'm very pleased with the shot I made. He was 196yards away and I made the shot with no rest. I got a complete pass thru on both sholders and he never took a step! The buck was 31 inches long! My buddy and I saw many bigger bucks but we just couldn't get a clear shot at the ones we wanted. A few very nice bucks!
Water pouring out of a cave!
The river was running the whole time we were there.
Perre David cow feeding in the river and other PD's
1/2 wolf and 1/2 red healer. Mean looking dog!
A little fishing.
And finally the buck I killed late on the last evening of the hunt.
