Tips, tricks, powders, primers? I would like to load FMJ and SP for hunting. Not looking for precise accuracy, just cheaper plinking.

Thanks.

These are the standard loads that seem to work well with both 110 grain FMJ or 110 grain SP bullets. Full length size...trim length 1.285"...1.680" OAL (COL)...CCI 400 Small Rifle Primers

Winchester 296 Powder
Hodgdon H110
Hodgdon Lil Gun
14 grains is a recommended starting pint
15 grains (MAXIMUN LOAD)
Lil Gun has a slightly lower pressure profile
14.5 grains of Lil Gun is pretty accurate

I have some decades old WW296 14.5 grain reloads that give good performance...they were given to me by a gunsmith that received them from the widow of a master reloader...

BTW Aquila ammo is reasonable but a little dirty and shoots well in my Inland...good luck and look at the Hodgdon website...and please use caution...

14.4 grain WW296 over 110 gr FMJ is what I have loaded for many years. I only get 2 loadings before I have to trim. You can only apply a light crimp since it head spaces on the rim ( hence you need to trim or the crimp/head space is all over the place ).
Primers: I have always used CCI 400 ( small Rifle), some use CCI #41 military primers. Some manuals recommend the small rifle magnum powder with WW296 but I have never had a problem even in cold weather.

One caution, make certain all primers are firmly seated ( no proud primers ) since the M1 Carbine has a floating firing pin.

I am currently playing with some 90 Gr XTPs over AA#9 but I am not not ready to share details. Its mainly for a carbine pistol. I have not tried it for function in the rifle yet.

Thank y'all. Gonna have to order some WW296 or H110, whatever is easier to find.

Thanks
Josiah
