A man after my own heart. The feel of the older guns cannot be duplicated IMO. Sako rifles come close. For the doubles one there is no equivalent without spending crazy money on an English make.

At the top end, the Italians match or exceed the English, but a Piotti or Fabbri is still stupid money.

for every stereotype there's a prototype don't be the prototype

This. No real need for one, but before I leave planet earth want to shoot one. Even if the recoil launches my hind-end into the next county. smile

I think there's one at the gun shop off belt line in carrollton I think. Maybe it's a bold action but I swear it's semi

The semi auto .50 gets a bad wrap. It is a 35+ pound gun; doesn't kick near as hard as you'd think.

I would agree with that statement concerning o/u shotguns. Of course most Italian doubles are of British design or a close variance, the Italians have simply refined them to an impeccable level. The finest work I have seen was a F. Rizinni.

The English still make the best double rifles and SxS shotguns.

Bolt guns is split between a few Americans, some English, and French(Dorleac).

From an innovation in the last 50yrs standpoint the Swedish Flodman wins. His new hinge design is very cool, so cool that Browning waited till the exact year his patent expired to introduce the Cynergy, a close copy. Still, the way the Flodman hinges and the trigger/hammer/firing pin system is brilliant; Browning didn't go as far.

I've never been a fan of "black guns", but I find myself looking closely at an AR-10. There's just something about being able to throw out a bunch of .308 rounds at once that warms my heart.
For old times' sake, I would love to have a big ol' double rifle in something like a .416 Rigby or .458 Lott. When I was a kid, a friend of my dad's used to go to Africa and hunt with big rifles like that and he let me and my best friend shoot them. I was a skinny 14 year old, and the rifle kicked my butt. Now that I'm older and a lot bigger, and I'd like to get even.

Springfield 1903 USMC Sniper. A real one. Not a copy.

I like the way TheDoveShooter thinks...

I would like my Dad to pass down more of my grandfathers guns before I am too old to make out the iron sights!

Aside from that, my less than practical wish list includes:

1) An original example of every US service rifle, maybe add in Texas and Confederate rifles for good measure.

2) An original example of every service rifle by every nation in World Wars 1&2

3) The complete John Moses Browning collection including a 1919 and Ma Deuce.

4) My Jeep really needs an MK19 mounted on top.

5) Though it might cause JMB to roll over in his grave and cause all my 1911's to jam, a SIG P210 Legend Super Target

Ruger 1B in 257 Weatherby that is a special run this year. 28" barrel and 100 grain bullets is pretty tempting

X2. Really any assault rifle/military style weapon. I love archery and gun hunting is becoming a side thing for me.
I want a pistol collection (G17, P226s, 92F, Kimber 1911), a Sauer 202 for that once-in-a-lifetime driven hunt, a 7mm-08, a Kimber rifle, a Sako 85, a Weatherby Mark V, and a Beretta CX4.

I was at the store yesterday, and saw Colt was making a 1991 Commander in 9mm again. I want one of those. I would have bought it if I had 849$.

That's just crazy talk. It'll work on hogs and coyotes. No such thing as overkill on those critters. Well, this was my justification for getting one anyway. It'll put em down and keep em there. Now, go ahead and get that rifle.

I sat on the idea for a long time. 10 years I think. Picked one up recently and its easily one of the most enjoyable firearms I own.

My wish list can be quite long but on top would be a Springfield 1911, Rem 700 in .257 Weatherby, Ruger over and under 12 Ga. and a SW 686, 4" stainless.
