Looking at buying a 6x42 fixed power scope. Considering Leupold Fx-3 or Swfa ss 6x42. Which one and why?

I love simple fixed power scopes. What are you planning on doing with this scope?

A fx-3 with a custom shop tmr or mil reticle would be a nice light weight and low profile scope. You could certainly do alot worse.

If this is going on a range rifle, then the ss may be the better choice.

Either way, you can't loose.

I have the FX3 6x42 Leupold on my Tikka T3 .243 and just love it. The clarity of the fixed Leupold scope is just outstanding (especially in low light). No matter how I position myself on the stock, it hits where the cross hairs show.

Ever considered sending in the fx-3 to the custom shop for a tmr reticle?

I sure have.

I hunted for many years with a Leupold Fixed 6 Power on a Remington model 700 BDL. It had the heavy Duplex Cross Hairs and was a great low light scope. Killed many a deer and never had any issues with that scope.

Mine was sent to their custom shop, but only to have my name on it in gold. I love the wide duplex for this gun. It is my 200 yard and under whitetail gun. 75 yards and under, it goes right on the high shoulder and 80 to 200 I put it right on the heart. I love the fact that no matter from 50 to 200 yards, I don't need to adjust the crosshairs, except possibly for high wind.

Hard to argue with what works for you guys. My hunting situations are just a little different.
