How many of you keep your air conditioner running while your not at the lease? I have no experience with RV's so I am asking if most people leave the air conditioner on but turn the thermostat up when they are gone?

It makes no sense to me to leave it on as I would think starting this time of the year it will just the bring the electric bill up. Maybe I am missing something and RV's need cooling during the summer?

I don't think so, but I just had an old 5th wheel at the deer lease. Off-season I would turn the breaker off at the pole. During deer season the only thing I left on was the fridge.

No need to keep the AC running while not there. Rv's are not that big, it shouldn't take that long to cool it down upon your arrival. Sure, it'll be hotter than hell in there during the summer when you first go in there to turn on the AC, but just find something to do outside for a half hour and it'll be fine. Save your money on the electricity, it won't hurt you to leave it off.

I leave the fridge on so I don't have to restock every trip, but everything else is off especially the water pump. Only takes a few minutes to cool off the trailer when I get there.

Depending on when I plan to come back, I may or may not leave the fridge turned on at it's warmest setting. However, the only thing that may be in there are a few bottles of water. The AC and everything else in the trailer is turned off and unplugged. I'm sure the trailer gets over 110 in the summer, but I'm not there to feel it.

Leave it off unless you have a fat girl living there for camp meat. That's our policy.

I wouldn't just to conserve it's lifespan, they aren't cheap to replace. I have an automatic roof vent I can turn on and open the door, it will suck the super hot air out in no time. Then turn on AC and set on the high mode until it gets cool.

We leave power only to leave the ref/freezer running which was even a mistake once as a breaker had thrown and everything in the freezer had thawed. So now don't leave anything but some water in the fridge.

Even when I was living in mine everyday, I would turn the AC off during the work day. 15 minutes with the a/c on and vents open it would be good to go. Give me time to drink a few beers outside.

I always unplug my trailer before leaving and put any cold food that I want to leave behind in a small frig in the barn. The propane gas is also turned off at the tank.

I leave the frig running from august till June 1st because I am down there at least every other weekend and when the season starts I am there every weekend. But I don't leave the air on. In the texas heat you are going to really give that unit a workout doing so. I open the door and windows when I first arrive for about 5 minutes, then close everything and turn the air on. In theory, the air will on cool down a trailer 20 degrees from the outside temp. So, 105 outside, 85 on the inside. I have a couple of fans that I run to make it seem a lot cooler during then months of Aug-Oct.

A/C is off when we leave, during the winter the heat is left on at 45 with the cabinet doors open. So far, so good.

Only thing running is my fridge. As mentioned before only takes a few minutes to cool it down while unloading gear, food and ATV. I have a duel set up on fridge so if power goes out it will run off propane. Even then, I never leave perishable meats in it. Just soft drinks, water, etc.... As for winter time, I don't leave the heater running either. Just make sure all water lines are bled back into holding tank and pressure off lines. 2 years ago woke up to a temp of 3 degrees, space heater had no chance of keeping up, but since I had bled the lines before going to bed I had no leaks. Didn't turn the pump on though until it was much warmer outside.
