Just a torch mount away from finished....going to pick up a dedicated propane torch today and should finish it up by WE.
This design and parts list was posted on another forum I visit, I was tired of annealing in a socket mounted on a drill so I ordered parts.

Here is a link to the original post:
$75 Do it yourself brass annealing machine

Wishing you good shooting!

Annealing Article

This is a long read but thought it was pretty informative. I did not know what annealing was so this was a neat read for me.

I have been thinking the same thing about building me one too. I only do around 300 to 500 brass a month but a socket and drill is pretty slow.

That's impressive...especially considering the price of the Benchsource and Girard (sp?).

Thanks for compliments gentlemen.
I just got back from Austin with dedicated torch in hand!
Will make mods to the torch and a mount for it also this afternoon hopefully.

I had been searching for a good design that didn't cost a ton and wasn't so manual.
Even some of the expensive models have to be hand fed so this is heaven sent.
After I got everything setup, I've loaded it up with 100 6.8 cases and then 100 223/5.56 cases and it runs thru them without a problem.

Since you can adjust the speed of the drum and feed individually from 0-25 RPM in 100 steps, finding the right drum speed for proper dwell time in the heat should be easy and it should be very consistent.

I had most of the stuff laying around including an 8' chunk of 2.5" diameter nylon 66 so the cost was under $60.00 including a new torch.
The power supply, motors, digital controller and 2" deep x 6" diameter HD cake pan all came from ebay.

When I get it finished and adjusted, I will shoot a short video of it running some 6.8 brass.

I'm already thinking about a single motor more compact version.

I tinker therefore I am...LOL!

Here you go....test run using crap 223 crimped brass.
I am waiting on a hose for my torch.
Laying the propane tank on it's side leads to inconsistent flame.
If I let it settle down for a few minutes before I light it, it helps but need to set the bottle upright.

Looks like a winner to me. I've been looking at the machines on the market and hate to pull the trigger on one at those prices. Still shopping around. Good luck on yours. It really looks good.

The hose assy for the torch showed up late this afternoon via UPS.
Standing the propane bottle up stabilized the flame on the torch and I got nice consistent heat.
Ran another test run, then ran 300 223 brass.
Beats the drill and socket to death, goes pretty quickly and I didn't even burn my fingers!
