I am not much on turkeys or turkey hunting. But this one caught my eye.
We have a group of hens that frequently come to our feeders, and this time I noticed that one had a beard. My first thought was that it was a jake but I do not usually see jakes hanging out with hens. And the jakes around here have fuller beards and typical tom coloring on their heads, and much darker feathers.
Is this a bearded hen?

Sorry about picture quality. Taken with Iphone 100 yards through binos.

Same turkey at feeder

I have one at my ranch too. She has about an 8" beard and is at my feeder almost everyday. Was pretty cool watching all the big Toms going after her last month

Had 3 young bearded hens hitting a feeder one year in Eastland County. Watched them several times sometimes as close as 10 feet.
