...to quote a line from Star Wars.

The Hessian and I had spent the day down in Bosque County, looking at a relative's property and hog damage and on the way home, he suggested he go after the hogs at my place as they had come the two previous nights. His argument was solid. It isn't going to be raining tonight, but may all week long after that. Well, it didn't rain for our hunt, but it rained before the hunt and was misting the entire night. Everywhere we walked made squishing noise in the mud.

We set up to watch the feeder. Winds were SUPPOSED to be out of the SE and were for a bit, but then changed to being out of the NE. That didn't bode well for us. In reality, it was perfect.

While watching raccoons at the feeder, heard a grunt from behind. Got pivoted around and ID'd hogs. That is where the video starts...

As you could see from the video, thermal conditions sucked. Once the hogs were shot, they disappeared from view.{EDITED next part}. TLM took a better look at the video than I did during my sleep-deprived editing and noted the second hog I shot already had a shoulder wound that was bleeding.

The smaller boar got donated to the disabled Marine and he said his freezers were full, but if we go out again next week, he might have more freezer room by then. Apparently, he is storing hog meat in his neighbor's freezers, and sharing the bounty as well. The bigger hog was donated to the Turkey Buzzard Preservation Society.

Good job. It sure looked like your second hog crumpled right there, but ??? If you couldn't find it. Shot looked good regardless.

Conditions looked just like my only hog hunt this year, haven't been able To get out more due to the wet. Now that school is almost done for the year, might have to drag my son out and see if we can't figure out some wet weather hunting up

The shot looked about right to me as well. See edit above. Apparently, the running hog was already shot and the Hessian's hog was not DRT as originally thought.

Speaking of dragging, the one way in which the wet and mud were helpful were in dragging the hogs. They slid a lot better and we dragged them about 145 yards to get them to the closest point the truck could come. The truck almost got stuck twice getting that close. I will have some ruts to fill in when things dry out a bit.

Excellent video! You're reticle is solid on your shots. Are you using a support or is this freehand?

I appreciate your erring on the side of flattery, but NO, not freehand - rested.

OMG! The "TBPS" (Turkey Buzzard Preservation Society)...........too funny! smile

How many times have you been told NOT to feed the animals?

You're going to have them waiting in line, like McDonalds.

What rest do you carry? Been looking for one and not a huge fan of the bog pods, but was looking for another option. I like the Caldwell field pod, but it seems like it may be too big to carry and set up quickly.

I was actually in a stand for this hunt. Otherwise, I carry tripod Trigger Sticks. They are a bit big and bulky, but set up very quickly. Plus, I use them for a camera tripod for trophy pics and such. So they do double duty.
