I have been in Texas less than a year, I'm stationed here in Del Rio. I have family with land about an hour away. I have enjoyed hunting with my rifle up there, but I recently bought a bow and am looking for some tougher hunts. Lake Amistad is only 20 minutes from my house. Has anyone hunted around there? Just this weekend I have scouted areas 2, 3, and 5. Saw some whitetail and domestic goats. Just wondering what everyone else's experience was. Thanks!

You might want to post this on the Bowhunting section I know I got some answers there before arthritis made me put the bow down.

I hunt around the lake on private land quite often, , more particularly we border Unit 5. It is more gently rolling hills and flats.
We get a bunch of mouflon crosses that come back and forth off of us from that unit- they jump the cattle fence with ease.
Landowner has seen some aoudad from time to time- those would be a challenge. Those mouflon are a tougher hunt because they are super
spooky, they keep there routine though from what Ive seen from bedding area to water pretty regular so with some scouting
you should be able to do ok.

Whereabouts in area 5 have you seen them? I plan on scouting all 5 areas all summer. Been to area 5 once so far, only saw 40 feral goats. 😒
