I've got my 5-18 working good except for the lack of audio on my videos.
Maybe the next update will bring us sound? I really prefer my Armasight Thermal
but This is not a bad addition.

Also, I found the video output only @ 15 fps (frame per second).

Finally, today I found out what's up with the 15 fps video output I was getting. It's because I set the "light amplification" setting on "medium" to get rid of the image flick. It seems X-sight is using longer exposure time to increase the brightness.
So I recorded 3 videos in 3 different settings "low", "medium", and "high". The fps are 29, 14, and 7 fps respectively. Now if I want to get normal video speed, I have to live with image flick.

You are welcome. From your youtube videos and also your post here, I learned a lot. Thanks!
Thanks to Bruce on nightvisionforumuk, who mentioned some company use longer exposure time to lower the lux rating. That give me an idea to see if the fps is related to the light amplification.

I read that same post, but didn't put 2 and 2 together. I'm researching building a hand held spotter that "some bloke" came up with. I've ordered everything, but the e700 camera chip. Those guys are amazing when it comes to DIY night vision.

I'll check it out. I'm putting the E700 behind a 58mm F1.4 SLR lens so it'll be about 4X magnification. The 1.4 F stop should gather lots of light. I saw "some blokes" youtube video, where he was spotting rabbits with no IR at all, and showing shadows under trees with 1/2 moon IIRC. I'll probably use a watec if I decide to build a broom scope.

A firmware update is being testing. Should be releasing in the next couple of days.

Beaubien,
It is going to address the sounds issue and optimize few of the backend processing.

That is great. So what is going to be lost in the process?

Will it do anything at all to address the dimming or should we be waiting for a future update for that?

Sachal, did I misunderstand your earlier statement that seemed to indicate you could not address the dimming because it affected other functions?

DF...I think he meant they couldn't make it adjustable...but might be able to set it to a certain exposure level.

we have isolated the dimming issue and the team is working on addressing it. We know exactly whats causing and it will be addressed - unfortunately its hundreds of thousands of coding lines that they have to go through so I cannot give you an exact date.
