Was golfing today and shanked one into a bush in the desert. Looked in one bush and found this. Do you think a ball landed here or the mama quail helped it here? No eggs were broke and it was deep in a bush.

I bet mom thought she lost one and put it back. Or it was there and she decided her nest should be there as well. I've seen chickens do that.
