The key feature is a big slice of home grown tomato. I just heated my thick slice of bologna in the microwave for a half minute, then put it on a Mrs. Baird's lightly toasted white bread. I have been known to eat just a plain tomato mayo sandwich.

Have I ever mentioned that I like home grown tomatoes?

yep, my grandmother had a pretty big garden when I was a kid growing up. I have eaten many a tomato, mayo on white bread sandwich, dusted with salt & pepper. She called them a "western sandwich".

and ... I have had pretty much any kind of lunch meat, fried, on sandwiches ... My dad used to give pretty much everything a try, including spam. I like fried spam BTW...

Bill, try trying it in your cast iron skillet to get some skillet marks on it. Better for sure.

I haven't had any good Bologna in a long time, I found some Canadian Valley stick Bologna in ok. Few years back was the last good Bologna I had. It just doesn't taste the same now. What's y'all's favorite.

You tomato sandwich boys are missing the boat if you don't include some sliced sweet onions on those as well.

Rudolphs Market and Sausage Factory on Elm Street in Dallas has got the best beef bologna around. All made fresh daily and stuffed in natural beef casings. They have lots of products and have been in business since 1895, so they say.
You can order over the phone and they'll ship it to you, saving the drive and hassle.

I use Bar S thick slice. That's the only thick slice I see in the lunch meat cooler. It has 10 slices per pound and costs a dollar.

I like to buy 1/2 the loaf at the deli put it on the smoker with what ever I'm cooking, closest to the fire box.
We snack on it as everything else is cooking.
