I am looking for a recipe that will result in tender ribs. I do not have a smoker so a grill needs to be involved. I expect there is an existing thread on this but the search function does not like or work well for me. If a link to an existing thread can be posted that would be very helpful. thanks.

I put mine in a cooking bag with liquid smoke, a rub, then cook them 6 to 8 hours at 225. There is no mess to clean. I slice mine while they are still in the bag, and put the pan away without washing it. I refrigerate and even freeze the leftovers in the bag.
I serve them with baked beans and coleslaw.

Ok, no smoker, so we go with indirect heat. Coals on one side, meat on the other. Add pecan wood to the coals for smoke. Make rub with brown sugar and Canadian steak seasoning plus extra kosher salt. Rub ribs and smoke for 3 or 4 hours keeping temp under 200. Remove from grill and rub them down again using plenty of rub on meat side. Don't worry about rub on bone side. Now paint with can if chipotle run thru blender. Wrap tightly in foil and finish in oven at 225 for 2 or 3 hours.
Try this Bill, better than liquid smoke and cooking bag, been there.

You can use the bag instead of foil. The ribs will fall off the bone. Save the leftover rub and chipolte to mix with drippings. Yummy. We just finished two racks yesterday that I cooked the day before. Even the kids liked them.

Season with Fiesta Brand Uncle Chris' Gourmet Steak Seasoning (or other of your choosing) and sear on charcoal grill.
Remove from grill and place into shallow baking pan.
Add approximately 1/4 to 1/2 inch of water.
Cover with foil and bake at 250 degrees for 2-1/2 hours.
Remove foil and baste ribs with BBQ sauce.
Put back in oven at 350 degrees for 15 minutes.
Ribs will be fall-off-the-bone tender.
