I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

had to go look up the Sentinel a little before my time. Was one of or the first 22lr 9 shot revolver
"Sefried designed the 9-shot Sentinel sometime in 1955. It was first introduced as the J. C. Higgins Model 88 by Sears Roebuck with a price tag of $37.50. Additional private label versions were produced for Western Auto and Col. Rex Applegate’s Mexican arms company, ARMAMEX.
Is this a great plinking gun? Yes, it is, with nine rounds between reloads! Often found in good condition and priced cheap, the early, Sefried Sentinels are worthy, little rimfires with intriguing, advanced design features that largely go unnoticed. Keep your frugal eye out for one.
Neat little gun if I ever run across one for $250 or less I will snag it.

That pistol is my absolute favorite in 22 cal. I am a big fan of the old High Standard pistols, especially that double 9. I've carried one for a long time and picked one up not long ago for my oldest daughter. I just need to pick up 3 more of them and I will be happy. Great pics of your Dad. You did an awesome job. Spend as much time shooting that thing with him as you can.

I was extremely impressed with the pointabillity, lockwork, and crisp trigger on this gun. Natural pointer, and a great little shooter. I am now on the hunt for one. The first time I shot it, I hit a plastic water bottle, dead center, from about 12 yards away. Plus it is a lot lighter than my semi autos, so it would be great to pack around the woods. The only negative I can think of is that the ejector is bad to scratch up the side of the receiver.

The only negative I can think of is that the ejector is bad to scratch up the side of the receiver. Yes sir that is my only complaint, the ejector scratches the receiver. It IS a natural pointer with the long barrel and is light weight. I carry mine all day in the woods/brush. Working filling feeders, running the tractor, driving T posts, cleaning critters whatever. You forget it's there because it's light, but when you need to pull it it's just a good shooting pistola. Will get plum dirty, wet, and shoot when I want it to. I've shot a lot of rabbits in the head with it, longest was 75 yrds. Accurate once you get the feel for it. My kids shoot that old pistol better than any of the other 22 pistols I've put in their hands. That's kinda why I want to get a few more of them. They are/well were/cheap pistols but I love their accuracy and reliability. I've handled a few newer models of various brands but just didn't like the feel & the extra weight. I just like the feel of that old HS double 9 and I shoot it well.
