I don't know my snakes very well, so what kind of snake is the black one? I definitely know the other one is a rattle snake.

They are listed as "threatened" in the state of Texas. Killing one would be unwise but I doubt anyone would look to string you up as long as you aren't posting pics of it on here or facebook. They are great snakes to have around.

There was a time when I would kill any snake in sight but things have changed.Around the yard, if it doesn't have fangs, it gets a pass
