They'd cook their own meals and leave a cook at home for someone they knew they could have a month's worth of conversations with and actually enjoy it.

Did remind me of one hunt where another hunter in camp (not my group) ended up "shacking up" with a pretty good looking lady cook the whole trip. She was a terrible cook and one of my buddies told him he should pay her salary for the trip as he was the only one who got his money's worth. True story.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

If meals are included I like to get the guide to spell out what to expect and get some references. I often bring my own grub as a backup just in case they stray from what they tell me before the hunt.
To me I would rather the guide focus on the hunt and not the food. I can go on rice and beans for a few days as long as I'm having a great time chasing/seeing game and in good company.

That's pretty much how a family member got his 4th wife. Another buddy who's now 23 got his fiancé in similar fashion only the outfitter/guide had twin daughters his age who helped out around the lodge. I joke with him about how his cook wants in the states bad if she's willing to move to UT and convert/change her religion so they can get married.

Hunting camp ain't always about hunting I have learned.
I learned long ago you can't reason someone out of something they don't reason themselves into.

Lol..nope and I share camp with a bunch of womanizers and luckily the ramrod of the group tries to tell all of them that if they're happily married and current wives don't complain about how much they hunt then they have no reason to mess that up. They'll be able to hunt long after the idea of chasing women goes away.
