Made a quick drive this morning and finally took my camera. The quail have really been moving and calling the past month now. I got a few pics around the rain showers. Saw one rooster in the road then 3 more flew in from all directions and land in the soybeans and lab lab.  This rooster ran down the road then flew up in some blackbrush.    Every place I stopped there were quail calling within 100 yards of me. This pair was at the house when I got back.   If all the pairs raise a decent size covey this will be the best year on quail since I moved here 3 yrs ago.

Great pics man. I am looking forward to another good year of quail. We have a chance for this next season to be one to remember.
Haven't had it in years but never spit any out. I am a sucker for happy endings and strapped cowboys.

Where is here? Uvalde? Here is at my place in Western Goliad County. Great pics stx. What lens? Lens was Canon 100-400mm IS and most were hand held. I was surprised they turned out as well as they did. Great pictures. As always. I especially like #2.
Would you mind telling what camera, lens and settings you used? Those pics were all with a Canon 50D and Canon 100-400MM IS lens. Part where on manual setting when I had something to rest on and some with auto when I was just holding the camera. Low light from cloud cover I had the cameras set on 200 to 400 ISO depending on if I was free handing or on a rest. Thanks everyone.
