Picked my materials up today to start on three feeders. Utilizing some good advice from here as this is my first attempt. We'll see how it goes.

If you put a funnel on the inside, install it before you attach leg brackets. That way the bolts from brackets won't interfere with funnel install.

Ok welders, no need to point out that my welds are ugly, I already know that. I'm not a welder or metalworker of any kind. grin

1 1/2" 12ga square tube legs cut at approx 55 degrees and welded to 6"x9" 12ga plate that will bolt to the 55gal drums.

Added these "feet" from the drops off the legs to keep the legs from sinking. I'm also thinking I'll drill holes through these and drive rebar through the holes to anchor the legs.

Wil, I am installing funnels but the legs will be mounting much higher than where the funnel sits, thanks for the heads up.

Tomorrow I'll drill the barrels for funnels and feeder motors and hopefully will be painting Thursday. Thanks all for the advice/support. Sad to say, but I got a late start on hunting and am having to teach myself a lot of this stuff. Well, YouTube, THF, and the interwebs might be doing a little teaching too.

Looking good, keep up the good work. Will you have solar panels and if so where will they be attached? to the barrel or to the timer box.

6v panels will be mounted to a leg. At least at this point that's the plan, but we all know how plans change.

May want bigger "feet" and make sure to primer the welds. Looking good so far up

Western, I'm gonna grind everything and Rustoleum the whole contraption. That should do it?

Although I didn't put any feet on my it looks very similiar. I preferred using the square tubing over the oil field pipe I used on another one. One thing I'm going to change is my camo colors. During the fall it sticks out like a sore thumb.

Blazin, actually got my leg design from that video. The feet were my own add on. I'm planning on just doing the whole thing in a dark brown. Doubt the animals will care what color it is as long as it keeps slingin corn!

Well, here's the finished product. Got three of em identical. I drove 1/2" rebar down about 20" at an angle against the front of each leg and figure 8'd bailing wire through the feet and around the rebar. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my first build as far as the construction goes. I'm having motor issues but I'm dealing with that on another thread. bang
