A couple of times now my 5-18 Xsight (running .266) has locked up after going to "sleep". It will not restart, and requires a completely new set of batteries before it will power back on. Has anyone else had this problem?

Have you tried pulling the batteries and reinserting? What voltage are the batteries reading when scope won't start back up?

God Bless

I did try pulling the batteries and reinserting the same batteries. I have no idea what the voltages were at the time, as I was up on my tripod and did not have any kind of meter available. Seems like the sleep mode is killing one or more of the batteries in the group. I will put them on the meter tonight and report the voltages.

That's definitely a new wrinkle, Tom. I've been piddling around with my 5-18 for several months, and have encountered every problem that has been cited on this forum, so far, but never a "sleep mode battery snuff" issue! Let us know what you find out, please.

Update. I pulled the batteries, and put them in the meter. They were lithiums. 2 showed 1.72. 1 showed 1.32. 1 showed 1.08. These were fairly new, and there was no "low batt" indication with I fired up the scope initially. This is the 2nd or 3rd time the scope has done this since the "sleep" mode became part of the software. Interestingly, when I put in brand-new batteries last night, and changed sleep mode to 5 minutes, and did not let it go to sleep, it continued to work with no problems.

I had the problem and it seemed to be caused by an older SD card. I changed the card and the problem went away.
