So I'm not sure if any of you keep up with much news from Mississippi, but we have recently had two police officers killed in the line of duty and another shot tonight... Along with another officer assaulted recently and it just keeps getting worse in my home state and is leading me to think I want to start beefing up more on my gun collection.

So my question is, what's better... Picking up 1, maybe 2, high end AR-15's.... Or purchasing several mid range lowers and uppers to build them up and have spare parts lying around?

Buy one $700 gun, put a scope and trigger on it, and buy mags and ammo. It's not like you're ever going to wear it out.

The secret to a long life is to try not to shorten it.

Get a good rifle and learn how to shoot it.

Strength in numbers! I can only shoot one gun at a time but if you have family members or friends, it might be useful to have more than one AR...and mags...and ammo. No reason to limit yourself with just one if you have the financial means IMHO.

Agree about learning to use it plus that will help ensure reliability and confidence.
