I have had my place for 5 years and all of the sudden, I have at least 2 covey of quail.
Yesterday I had at least a half dozen roosters calling from different areas. I have seen them several times under and around the feeder.
We keep a corn feeder going year round about 50 yards from the front porch just to see whats going on.
Its cut way back and lately we've been seeing quail, lots of them in the evenings especially

I want to put out a small feeder and feed milo or wheat but don't have $200 to spend right now

the Currie feeder seems like a good one to build

I have had quite a few quail the past few years. The past 6-7 weeks they have paired up and roosters calling everyday. I am thinking about building several of these style feeders to put around the place since you posted this link. I like the fact you can make it out of PVC pipe, plastic buckets, or barrels. Basically the only cost is the drum if built out of them and T-post to keep the hogs/cattle from turning them over.

All we do is mix a sack or 2 of milo in with the corn in the deer feeders. After a few months they were like deer, when the feeder goes off the quail show up. Only problem we had was chicken hawks soon found easy dinners.

I went to TSC today and found these for around $15 and followed the directions Rollins gave in the video.
I painted it flat green to blend it (for my benefit) and will get some milo tomorrow. I'd like to set out a few of these and set game cams up to see how they do. I want to do whatever I can within reason to help them. It's just nice being able to see them occasionally

I looked on-line trying to find some metal 15 or 30 gallon drums with no luck this afternoon. Those will work just fine I would think. Be interested in seeing how they do for you. I definetly going to make some since I heard 4 roosters in the middle of the day just around the house when I leaving to go to town.

I have started seeing a few covey's last year too. I'm going to be making one of these ASAP. Thanks for the idea and information.

I put the feeder out this afternoon, and set a game camera up close by. Hope to see some activity at the feeder soon. Sitting out on the porch later in the afternoon, started hearing calls from different areas. Then a pair walk right down the road by us and into a pasture and work their way into the center of some prickly pear near the base of a medium size cedar and there they stayed.

pretty cool to just sit back and watch
