TIRED HEAD AGAIN WITH THIS DEAD AZZ ARGUMENT

Let the OP learn both and , he is a big boy, I'm sure he can make his own decision.

Next will, of course be BDC turret or Ranging reticle...

I am not the most experienced shooter, but I did tons of research before buying my last rig (first long distance rifle). Doing an unbiased comparison for a shooter that has to learn either from scratch, MIL's are undeniably superior. That's all I'm saying.

If you wanna take a bike to the store, that's fine. Nobody is saying you won't make it. But I'm gonna drive my Hyundai.

Let's pretend like you're a scope salesmen. You just told me mils are undeniably superior. I have a scope and rifle that are proven and extremely accurate. Sell me a mil/mil scope based outside the fact you make a few less click for elevation......also you say "long range rig" please enlighten me on your setup seeing as how you clearly have a better grip on the concept of equipment than I do.

Refer back to the windage chart I provided.

Be about 1:20 from Frisco to my range. Come on out and I'll show you. We can rerun some scenarios I've shot in the past. One rule is no refrencing a DOPE chart, go from memory.

I'll be at ETTS this week on thursday. I'd be thrilled for you to show me how a mil scope will make me better at making windage calls. Let me elaborate...I see based on YOUR style of shooting where speed is everything that matters...I get it I obsess over small details and things to be faster with my limited gun. Now with my apllication I mostly do mid to long range accuracy or simply hits on steel. I can't think of a single instance where I've missed a wind call because I couldn't relate it to moa values IN A SPEEDY METHOD to my moa reticle. In fact and I think you will agree most wind calls are missed due to the human factor of making a bad judgement of actual wind values.

Still not getting the point.

It won't make you better at making judgement on wind speed and wind angle. It is easier to transition from one distance to another and remember what you should hold based on what you learned seconds ago. Also, the point, as so many of us have pointed out, that for a new distance shooter Mils are easier to learn. I happen to have a part time job doing this very thing, and have lost count on how many THF members I have educated on this subject, in person, on the range.

MOA works for you, great! Give me a teenager at 9 in the morning and by lunch I will have them hitting 800, and by 3 they will be calling and holding their wind. I have taught a 12 year old how to do this very thing.

But please, continue to get bent out of shape over this extremely old argument.

You added to your original post while I was replying.

Speed is not everything. Precision is first, speed comes second. The speed is easier to obtain with Mils.

I'm far from bent out of shape. This is quite comical to me. If I miss a target at 900 1/4 left of center I'm gonna add that to my wind hold value my next shot if the conditions are the same....how's that hard?
If my reticle all the sudden changed to mil I could be more precise? It's easier for some people to wear velcro strap shoes...but I think I'll keep lacing mine up on a daily basis.

Oh for Pete's sake!

I will type this skow.

I a m v e r y h a p p y y o u a r e c l e a r l y p r o f i e c i e n t w i t h M O A.

I will say again, since you clearly skipped right over it. Changing to Mils will not change your ability, or anyone else's ability, to judge wind velocity and wind angle at distance. A new shooter learning on his own or having someone else teach him will have an easier time learning, and an easier time practicing for years to come.

You do as you please, it clearly is working for you. We're trying to help the O.P. with his equipment decisions. I recall you calling a guy a troll. Re-read the previous posts and see how that looks on you, since you have caused several of us to repeat ourselves.

I will type this s l o w as well. Don't tell the OP that mil is the only right answer when that is clearly yours and several of your followers on this forum. Couldn't be that hard to learn as guys like me and you learned on it...might be easier to teach but that's on the shooter and teacher. He never stated he's never shot a firearm or used a scope in his lifetime. Don't bully him by telling him he's wrong.

Being that I own the three major options when it comes to "long range" optics (moa/moa, mil/mil and moa/mil) I will have to agree with Jason that mils are a bit easier and faster. I think it's fine to choose moa provided the reticle matches. The main concern for the op is his choice largely doesn't offer matching turrets for the reticle and only recently released a moa reticle that I believe is a special order. It can be done with stuff mismatched but there's no need to handicap oneself at this point in time with all the matching options available.

I don't bully anyone. I don't get one penny from scope sales. I will, however, recommend what I believe to be a wise investment. Good optics cost big bucks and I understand full well how it can be a major purchase for most people and I want them to be happy with that purchase from now on. Having stated that, and many of us explained more than once how much easier Mils are to use, look at the raw numbers of Mil/Mil scopes available vs. MOA/ MOA.

You are governor of the MOA island, it has a low population, but I hope you enjoy it.

I am and I will. Your opinion is still just that....an opinion. If you believe mil scopes and 300wm's are the right answer then by all means peddle that online.

I just started buying a precision rifle and scope for long range shooting and hunting. Everything I own is MOA until this recent purchase. I asked for firemanjg's opinion on scopes and he gave it to me. Just like the OP was asking for opinions on what he was set on purchasing.

I ended up going with 308 and the Bushnell LRHS FFP mil/mil. The easiest sight in I've ever done on a rifle. It appears to me from reading this thread YOU want to peddle your MOA opinion on this thread and are bullying anyone who doesn't support that opinion.

Thanks for your valuable opinion and experience that you shared with me FiremanJG. up
