Got my wife a crossbow, to give her a little more ethical killing potential than her vertical bow, and was curious what you guys have had success with in terms of consistent accuracy and penetration/game performance? The crossbow she will be using is the Barnett Quad 400. Fletched bolts without a head register 330grains on the scale.

170 Grain NAP F.O.C. Accurate in my xbow to 50+ yards and hit like the hammer of Thor.

This is a pic of the exit wound on the last deer I took with one of these:

I have saw those. Wasn't sure if this Xbow would have enough KE to expand and penetrate in complete pass thru with those big sucksers?

KE on the Barnett is about 105 ft-lbs. My bow is 127 ft-lbs and I personally know guys using these heads successfully with bows that are shooting 112 ft-lbs. My guess is it would be fine.

To put it into context on another instance I put one of these through both shoulder blades on a decent size buck and it broke both shoulders on the deer and passed thru. Deer dropped on the spot. One of the blades did however break in half and I had to find the broken off portion during butchering.

I used Swhacker 100 grain 2" last year with no problem. Shooting a Kodabow (315FPS). Most any fixed or mechanical work. Pretty much a matter of finding what you like and checking to be sure it shoots well in your bow.

There is a guy in Athens who used to shoot a Ghost 400. He might have some info if you want to contact him. I think I have his email address somewhere if you are interested.

Try some Muzzy Tocar 125's, I think you would be pleased.
