All the flood gates are open on Richland chambers and the Trinity is already 12' above flood stage downstream of the spillway.
I planned on doing some pig hunting Th, Fri, and Sat, but it looks like I may need my jon boat for that... The back half of our place will be underwater. There are lots of small high spots... I'm wondering if it would be worth scouting these out? Might find some sounded hold up on high ground.

Don't shoot a hole in the boat! I have zero experience with hunting from a boat, but couldn't pass up giving the obvious advice.

It's better than sitting at the house.

Yup! And inquiring minds want to know how big those holes have to be before they become problematic!

The Pigs of Lewisville Lake pretty much debunk the theory that you'd find a sounder of pigs hold up on high ground.
Pigman hunted pigs from an air boat in Lousiana at high speed.
It'll be fun either way

Shoot the hogs on dry land, not in the water. Not if you want to recover them, anyway.

Well...river is showing 12' above Flood stage. My Stand blind near the river wiil be very close to having water in the blind. The ground blinds are probably gone and hip wades would not help in getting to the tree blinds. I think I'm giving the boat a try.

Here is footage from the Richland Chambers spillway. (not my video). Folks in the area are saying they have never seen all 24 spillway gates open at the same time. The "Forbidden Land" below the spillway is now underwater.

Happy I don't own fenced property south of there.

Went out Sunday with every intention of trying hunting for my jon boat. Well a sounder showed up right outside the cabin within 30 minutes of my getting there, before I even had the rifle out of the case. A small bore DRT and another wounded that I did not find...from the door of the cabin!
After looking for the second one a while, then going back to take the backstraps from the first, I decided it was time for a drink, so no boat hunting was attempted.
We all need to practice Whoa more.

Well, the water has gone UP since my original post. Finally got back down to my place and drug the jon boat down to the water with the troweling motor. This sucked! Aluminum boat is way too noisy in the brush and tree, paddling alone does not work well, and the troweling motor caught up on too much stuff. A cheap plastic Kayak might would probably have been just the thing, but I dodn't have one.
