That sucks. If one of them suckers gets on our place we go after them hard. We lost 6 blackbuck fawns and a few fallow in just a few weeks when one got in. The exotics don't seem to be as attentive to the native predators as the whitetail are.

That's a tough loss to take, Don. There's not really any way to wipe out the coyotes. Just keep trying to fence them out. I have an electric wire about 4" to 6" off the ground around my chicken yard and I've seen coyotes running back and forth wanting in, but scared to get close to the fence. My system is grounded to the fence and to the ground. The big problem with the electric fence that low is if it rains, weeds can grow fast enough to ground it, or a rabbit or something will die in it and ground it. As much fence line as you have, you'd have to run it regular to make sure the fence stays working, but it's faster and cheaper than burying wire.

When I was quite young there were lots of coyote hunters with hounds all over the state, my Dad included. The houndsmen have just about all died off now, it's a shame, great sport.

Teeth marks on the neck next to skull sounds more like a cat kill I beg to differ. Every coyote kill I have seen has been like this. They grab the animal by the throat and hang on till they are dead. Then they chew in the belly next to the ribs. On larger animals like this they usually first eat the heart and liver. Smaller animals they either take it with them or I have seen them chew it in half and take half. A cat will usually cover what they don't eat and sometimes come back for more. A coyote teeth marks are under the neck and a cat usually on the top.
