The Moultrie Trace cam usually $99, now on sale for $39. Online reviews were good, not great but went ahead and picked one up. Will post pics tomorrow that it takes in the backyard tonight. If they're good I'll go back and get more tomorrow.

I got one the other day for the front of the house. It only gives time and date, no temp, moon, etc.

So here is a pic it captured of my pooch last night.

To give reference points, the edge of the house is about 25 feet from the camera, the fence in the background is about 80 feet. Not overly impressed with the field of view, but for 40 bucks, I'll take it!

Also just noticed, it looks a heck of a lot better on my laptop than it does in that uploaded pic above. Don't know what happened there. confused2

Haven't set mine up on the house yet, but that pic pretty much is what the reviews said. Yep, $40 bucks is still a good deal for me. I do like the mounting bracket too.

That was also on the 4mp setting, will turn it up to 8mp tonight to see the difference.

For $39. you cannot go to wrong...I ordered one from the internet / Academy trail cameras. I had to put Moultrie Trace in before they showed up. Tempted to get another.

Here are a couple pictures from my Trace from Academy. I have since moved the cam to a new spot higher off the ground. First time to use a trail camera and found out that the grass blowing in front of it will cause it to pretty much continually snap pictures and run the batteries down in a matter of days. The last picture is of my wife testing it after the move.

Thanks for the heads-up. I just returned from the Arlington Academy and bought the last two on display. They were still marked $99, but rang up at $39.

Hows the battery life on those things? I had a Moultrie but it crapped out on me after 1 season. It was also so sensitive it took pictures every 30 seconds. Thing was a hunk of junk and has kept me away from Moultrie cameras. However, for $35 bucks might be worth a shot.

Yeah I was curious what the battery life is too.

Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered 2 of 'em, which I plan to place around the lease on various trails and possible bedding areas to see what's moving through the area.

I just set four of them out at the lease this weekend. I'll let you know when I go back in a few weeks, but that'll probably be too late to catch the sale.

Put mine up yesterday and picture are bright and clear. Many pics due to wind moving tree limbs etc. I was watching this area this morning and yesterday evening and saw animals, for some reason there is not
pic that has a animal. Have it set for one photo......left my booklet at the lease so I cannot read up on it. Don't understand?

Thanks for the tip. Got one today, just tried it out. Took pretty good good pics of me from about 25-30 feet. The infrared light gets pretty bright in the pics. I'll be getting another one tomorrow (or 2).

When you have time, please look at your manual to see if there are problems with too much distance or being set for one pic etc that might cause my problem. I won't be able to get mine for at least a week.
Thanks!

I didnt see anything in the manual about distance. How far away is your camera from desired location? I have mine set for 3 photos and 8mp (high resolution) and its working great. Check the factory settings...in the manual it says the default stop time is midnight, so you mau want to tweak the factory settings.

We're FINALLY going back down for July 4th weekend. Give y'all an update then. I've got a feeling I'm gonna have some FULL cards.

Nick1, thanks for checking really thoughtful of you. I have mine set on 1 photo thinking I would save the batteries. The resolution is probably 4 mp.
Strange the camera took pics of the feeder but none included the pigs and turkeys. I will check settings when I return, distance is close to 50 feet. Thanks again.
