While hunting hogs at TBR, I decided to do some calling. I would call for a few minutes, wait a few, repeat. To my surprise, a pair of coyotes appeared. The first one, a male, quickly disappeared into the high wheat/oats of the food plot. The second stayed out in the open and was shot first. This coyote ducked back into the tree line and was not seen again. Attempts to find this coyote resulted in being unduly ravaged by mosquitoes and the search was quickly abandoned. I doubt she got very far, but he got farther than I could go.

The male exited the food plot and was into open, mowed field. He trotted some distance before stopping and that is where I dropped him.

I thought I would just run over and get some quick pics, but that wasn't the case. I slogged through a virtual swamp or bog, my boots being sucked down by the mud, the constant hum of mosquitoes was my companion.

I waited a few more hours for hogs. Silly me, they weren't there. They were all across the road on the neighbor's property again.

Just got word from the landowner that the 2nd coyote was found, also a male.

Good Job!

Mosquitoes are awful this year, I would not have gone very far in search of a 'Yodel Dog' either.

That hog to far left of the screen was a BRUTE!

What trigger are you using on your Grendel?

Good morning, Mr. flintknapper!

I have a LMT two stage match trigger. Years ago, I thought I would try competing and was told that 2 stage triggers were the way to go and so purchased a very pricy LMT lower with their match trigger. After shooting it a while and never competing, decided that 2 stage triggers were not to my liking and shelved the lower for a few years.

I tried it again for the Grendel and have gotten used to it. I still prefer an equally tuned single stage trigger, but it does do a good job for me. It has just been hard to get used to the needless first stage.

Well after 14" of rain so far, storms moved through after I left last night. I would not be surprised if Montague County didn't didn't another 1-2" of rain.

Another great video. I'd say it appears you nailed both of them.

Good deal!

Never any question that the first 'yote' was hit and hit hard. It 'humped up' immediately at the shot.

Normally, they will spin and bite at a wound before running off...but I've seen them do exactly what the video showed as well.

Good shooting. I know you've got that big boar on your mind now, so get back out there when you can. Love to see some 'vid' of that.
