Went out last night to get after some hogs. I recently built a 6.8 and had to take it out after some sighting in. I've hunted this same spot dozens of times and have only taken 1 pig in the last year. We are seeing a lot more activity recently and finally are seeing some decent size sounders. We normally see a boar here and there but it's been exciting to see more targets. I normally just hunt from stands over feeders as the game cams make it easy enough to pattern them. But I was thrown for a loop yesterday. Usually I see pigs any where from 8-10pm. Last night I showed up, went through our main gate around 6pm and was about to get out of the truck to open the gate to the pasture and I noticed some activity at the west end of the wheat field. I grabbed my binos and took a look, to my amazement it was at least 2-3 nice sized pigs. My buddy and I debated for a short while on our plan and decided based on wind to just walk out after them. I haven't tried spot and stalk on pigs before but it definitely paid off. We closed the gap from about 700 to within 50 yards with plenty of light left. Turns out there were roughly 8 pigs.. I let my buddy take the first shot and I already had my pig picked out for when it decided to take off. Well he ended up missing and I took 2 shots, first one took out the left front leg and the next dropped it in it tracks. For yet again another first, ive never shot anything moving that quick unless it's with a shotgun and a bird is the target. As I stood in awe as to what just took place, all the other pigs escaped. At that point I didn't care, I came to do what I intended and was rewarded accordingly. I know pigs are evil to many and I agree however I throughly enjoyed how this experience went and plan to use it in the future to take many more.

Congrats. I picked a new 6.8 a while back and it's awesome. Does your wife or girlfriend know you're using the kid's pool to catch pig blood?

The pool was bought for the dogs, used mainly in the summer. Non summer months it's used to catch blood. Lol

Nice!

A real hunter never returns empty handed. Spending time in the wilderness temporarily satifies the soul, but leaves us longing for more.

Congratulations on the pork!
That pool looks well "seasoned"...LOL!
Hopefully it's the first of many more to come with your 6.8.
The 6.8 has been my got pig gun for a couple of years now!

Going to unleash the 6.8 on some pigs this weekend. Nice pig. Hope I have the same luck.

Well done sir. My favorite round for hogs and favorite gun in the vault.

Thanks guys. I'm going out again tonight, we got about 2 inches of rain last night so hopefully they will come out and play. Good luck to you Dan.

Good going, hogs were the reason I got a 6.8 and I think it's an ideal caliber for them.

#2. Last Friday. I think I'm getting the hang of this. Doesn't hurt that they are making it easier by the numbers we are seeing now. 8-10 piglets with this group. 6.8 has me convinced.
