Bro Scooter I like to soak mine overnight then put in crock pot, add crushed minced garlic, a yellow onion diced, can of Rotel tomatoes, ham (with ham bone if we have one) and instead of water we use low sodium low fat chicken broth...cook on high all day...my bride makes a pan of cornbread and sets out some sharp cheese...if we want to thicken them some we just take a fork and mash some of the beans then stir...

Put a can of retried beans in there to thicken your stock.

And cilantro. It's great in beans.

I have to make some of that. Do you buy those beans mixed in a package?

To be determined

I love cornbread sticks. They're a lot more trouble than a pan but maybe worth it. I have an old cast iron pan. I think I'll use it the next time I cook cornbread. They might do better as leftovers.

love me some 16 bean soup!!! When the wife is away, I will brown 1/2 to a pound of hot breakfast sausage (depending on how big of a batch) and some coarsely chopped onions, fresh jalapeno and crushed garlic along with chopped bacon. I let it cook way down to where it is a really thick soup. Goes great as a meal or a side ... cornbread is a big plus too!

One year during September we were filling feeders and shot some dove. We de-breast
about five birds and threw the breast in the 16 bean soup along with the sausage that was already in there. Man that was some good eating!

I just did them tonight with stuffed bell peppers, black eyed peas, chow-chow, and cornbread sticks. My pan holds 7 sticks.

Haven't done those in years. They look great. Only thing I would do different is add a can of rotel & some cilantro. But I bet those were great! may have to fix some this weekend now.

10-4 on the rotel and cilantro! My wife completely burnt me out on those bean mixtures a few years ago, but those look real good to me.
