So this will be my first season to bow hunt. We don't have alot of tall oaks in wich to hang a tree stand and I want to hunt directly over/ around the stock tank. There is decent cover on 3 sides and behind the dam is pretty good mesquite and cactus and other what not. My biggest issue with a ground blind is I don't know how feel comfortable I feel sitting and and taking my shots at 25 yards. What are yalls opinions on tripods and what about building something taller and bigger I can stand behind like a pvc frame that is tied into the brush really well. I do believe that my pond plus food will bring does in early during bow season wich is the only time I can harvest one.

I would first set up a TC in various locations to see how the approach the pond. Which trails are best. Also look at the prevailing wind, SE in my area. If the pictures of deer moving into and from water allow you to, I would put the blind where the wind would blow my scent across the pond. That way you eliminate them from coming in down wind to close. I have hunted from lock-on stands, tripods and home-made/manufactured ground blinds. I practiced shooting from all them before hand. I now have a Midwest Haybale Blind that I really like since it allows me the room to feel comfortable and get drawn for a shot without being picked off by any deer.
