Tried to enjoy a nice spring day but I ran into this guy:  Then this guy:  These two are the only ones I got pics of. Had to then walk back through this stuff.  Just got in the truck a went home.

First one was a "good" snake of some kind and was given a pass. The second one suffered lead poisoning right between the ears. The others were some sort of hi-speed snakes as they hauled butt up an over some fallen logs and gone. They made a heck of a racket. I wasn't bothered by them, but whatever it was they feared left me rattled...

one reason I pretty much do not go in the wood till first frost, CHIGGERS.

1st one is a Texas rat snake, a good guy. The second is a copperhead and would be dead before I left.

one reason I pretty much do not go in the wood till first frost, CHIGGERS. Tuck your pant legs in your boots, wrap duct tape around to seal off any entrance for the chiggers and spray with repellent. This is what I do to fight off chiggers.

I guess I'm going to have to get a pair of snake boots. How do they hold up long term after continually be soaked through by wet grass and standing water?
