I'm looking for a good Catalina with a bow and a hog with a spear, no dogs. I have nothing against dogs but I want this to be a spear only. I have a feeder set up with a stand and light and everything but something about a drilling rig 100 yards away is keeping the pigs clear of it. I'm looking for the fall/winter and would likely have a couple guys with me that would take hogs and/or other exotics. I would also take the Catalina with a spear if the oppurtunity was there. Anybody got any or all of this?

I think we could possibly accommodate you on both the pig and Catalina. I know for sure the pigs. I have a ranch near College Station. Feel free to PM me and we can hash out the details.

There will be pics and likely video don't worry. I'm finding out spear hunting is harder than I thought it would be, for some reason I had in my mind I was some kinda Zulu warrior and could just walk out and start sticking things, it's not going that way.

The Maasia that hunt lions with spears use themselves or there buddy standing next to them as bait. Just saying...

Hogs with dogs with spears is actually pretty cool. Bushmonkey Knives made me a spear and I have or have let several guys stick hogs with it. It is actually a little safer than a big knife, hunters don't do the whole overhead windup with the spear like then tend to do with a knife.

Chris I hunted with you guys years ago. JP Klienhuas was there from Africa to hunt I think a Watusi and Paul took him out, I killed a little ram with a recurve and JP skinned it and was telling us the story of his dad being attacked by the lion.
Thanks for jogging those memories, I hadn't thought of that in years.

Do you guys have stands over feeders close enough for a spear?

Long story short, right after Thompson bought the ranch he's at now I was one of the first there and I knew nothing of Thompson or the place and in an attempt to run a ram off my hay I threw rocks. The ram payed no mind so the rocks got progressively bigger until I finally cracked him with one the size of a baseball and I thought I killed him. Luckily he got his feet and wobbled off.

Good to hear! Yes I have a few stands close enough to do it with a spear. Winter will be best when they are hitting the feeders hard. JP is still around I am heading over there next month to do another safari with him.
