Curious how many own or have experience with a STI 1911? I'm looking at the 5 inch Trojan and Lawman. Where the best price/place to purchase around Ft Worth?

I have an STI Spartan IV in 9mm that I love. I special ordered it and it took like 8 months to get it. I ordered mine through Alpine Range, I know they carry some other STI models and they had a couple when I was there last week.

Ok. Thanks. I've found a couple places with good pricesvonline, but I want to be able to physically hold/see the gun. I'll check out alpine.

I have a tactical 5.0 full rail .45 and love it!! I bought mine from Shooters Connection because they had one in stock. The full rail was hard to find.

I drove to Georgetown and dropped it off and had a desert tan grip frame added along with a trigger job and new "Bar Dot" illum sights installed. Work was done flawlessly and the trigger is awesome.

I never shoot the gun, she just sits in the safe protecting the others.

Check Cabela's, the one near me in Allen has several in their "fine gun room"

Just order it to your FFL!

I had 2 STI Trojan in .45 ACP
of all the 1911 I've owned (including Kimber, Colt, Wilson Combat Super Grade)

Those 2 STIs were the most precise pistols i've owned.
Best group: 1-2" , 8rds, 25 yds, off-hand, it likes high velocity 230 gr

I have a tactical 5.0 in 9mm. The pistol shoots and handles great but it isn't all roses. I had magazine and extraction issues right away. The extractor had to be re-tensioned in order to function properly. The trigger was TERRIBLE and that had to be massaged too. Once everything was tweaked, and tuned the pistol runs great. My biggest complaint is the cheap finish. Holster wear and surface rust from sweaty palms really irritates me. My STI had more holster wear in 20 draws than any of my Glocks had after thousands of draws. I understand about paying extra for tricked out finishes but the stock finish on a 2,000 dollar pistol should be at least as durable as the finish on a 450 dollar gun.

I had a Trojan in 40 for a couple years. It ran and ran for me. I used it for USPSA single stack so it was shot a lot and never had a failure.

I would have no issue buying another or any STI for that matter.

Cabelas in ft worth no longer carries STI. Also, I'm reading alot of issues with the finishes on STI pistols. What would be the most durable finish they offer?

Check with dawson precision for in stock sti pistols. As far as durable finish my vote goes for DLC coating or hard chrome.
